Every MONDAY – Body&Mind Meditation

With Joey Brown from 7:00 to 8:00 pm

You’ll enjoy introductions into different kinds of meditation. I will offer a combination of body-in-silence mindfulness meditation, body-in-motion meditation (f.ex. Osho Kundalini meditation, relax meditations, dance meditations) and Laugher Yoga Meditation. All the meditations have the same goal: to silence the 10.000 voices in your head, and to enter the space of emptiness, to experience totality, peacefulness and light and to open your source of creation, to find your own rhythm, your centre and your place and position in life. And most important of all: you’ll have a great time!

Meditation for me?
There are many forms of mental training that go by the name "meditation". The first thing you’ll learn is this: EVERYONE has access to meditation, or to the meditative state (being completely connected with the here and now, to be one). And the best way to find out what kind of meditation works best for you, is to try it out.


Body-in-silence meditation

For silent meditation, I always recommend a technique called vipassana meditation (or "insight" meditation). With vipassana the quality of mind you get is referred to as "mindfulness", a state of open, nonjudgmental and focused attention, to be present in the here-and-now. And this is what I will teach you in the body-in-silence mindful meditation: how to be total in the here-and-now. Mindfulness meditation has positive effects for pain, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation and self-awareness.

Body-in-motion meditations

The body-in-motion meditations are 100% FUN doing. You’ll learn to listen to your body. What is it that your body wants to tell you? What is it that your body needs? You’ll experience that meditation will help you just "to be". You ARE the dancing, you ARE the sitting, you ARE the jumping or sleeping or relaxing. You’ll relax your mind and your body, and open up your flow of creativity.


For the body-in-motion meditations I will use different Osho meditations (grounding), dance meditations (grounding, de-blocking, how to relax in movement), relaxing meditations (relaxing after movement) and Laughter Yoga meditation techniques (how to laugh without a reason and how to share pure JOY). Sit, relax, stretch, move, dance, shout, cry, laugh, love, share, be without judgment. Just be yourself.


What to bring:
It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing. For body-in-motion meditations it’s important that you feel free to move. I will give full meditation instructions at the start of every lesson. I will hold the space for you so that you can feel absolutely safe to explore and experience your own way into meditation. All the instructions are absolutely simple. Really everyone can do it. You too.

Born in Belgium 1976


From 1999 onwards I worked mainly as a language teacher at high school, as an editor, a writer, and a writing coach. Next to that I was closely involved in the organisation of Antwerp’s major literature festival Zuiderzinnen (2000-2012). Nevertheless I kept on missing something and in 2010 I took sabbatical leave of my teaching job to travel around the world.


It was the best decision ever: finally I could open up to other interests: meditation, silent retreats, breath&body work, painting, dancing and creative groupwork trainings. During these travels, I never skipped my favourite island Ikaria, which I started to call "home".

Only in 2013 I decided to make my dream come true: to set up my own organisation for writing holidays and creative retreats. And in doing so, MANAMAHOUSE was born.

During winter time I edit and write, I give online coaching, I paint, walk, do yoga, run and dance. And yes: some days -when the winds are blowing hard and the sea sings its darkest songs- I do nothing at all. I just allow myself to go Frantically Crazy or to be Totally Lazy (not moving 1 inch out of the house).
